English Language Centre
The English Language Centre (ELC) provides in-person and remote courses to students whose first language is not English in order to support academic success and participation in the University of Manitoba community.
Intensive Academic English Program
This full-time program prepares you for university by providing you with the academic language skills you need to succeed.
Live with a Canadian family
Living with a local Canadian family throughout your studies is a safe and convenient way to practice English and learn about Canadian culture. A private bedroom and three meals per day are included as part of the homestay experience.
Part-Time Academic English Courses (PTAEC)
Current UM students and community members can take additional classes to develop advanced language skills.
Language Partner Volunteer Program
The Language Partner Volunteer Program matches volunteers with English Language Centre students to help them practice their informal listening and speaking skills and adapt to Canadian culture.
