ANNOUNCEMENT – November 15th, 2024
Dear Graduate Students,
I would like to start by congratulating the recipients of the 2024/2025 UMGSA Student Award which was conducted during the summer term.
Unfortunately, we were unable to fill up two slots for part-time students, but this has created an opportunity a second round of application strictly for PART-TIME STUDENTS.
The application for PART-TIME awards is now open for the University of Manitoba Graduate Students’ Association (UMGSA) offering two (2) awards, valued at $5,000 each. This award will be offered to students enrolled part-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in any Master’s or Doctoral program.
Note that these awards are intended to provide support to graduate students who do not hold any major fellowships (including, but not limited to, SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, MHRC, and University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships) and have contributed to society through scholarship and community involvement.

About
The Graduate Students’ Association confers peer-to-peer recognition of fellow graduate students who are not currently recognized by the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship or other national awards. The Awards are designed to recognize the important contributions graduate students make to society through scholarship and community involvement. The Awards have been made possible by the generous contribution of Dr. James Burns, a levy applied to all graduate students approved through a GSA referendum, and a contribution made by the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative.
