The University of Manitoba Graduate Students’ Association (UMGSA) is the student-governed association representing graduate students at the University of Manitoba. Our mandate is promoting and providing graduate student advocacy, offering services and support to students, as well as developing and encouraging involvement in the graduate student community.
The UMGSA CRO and DRO are temporary positions in the UMGSA hired each year to run the Annual UMGSA Election.
The term of work is from the end of January to the end of April. The first half of that period will require relatively less time. During campaigning, as well as just before and just after it, a meaningful time commitment will be required.
Anyone serving as the CRO or DRO cannot run for election or campaign for anyone during their tenure. Impartiality and professionalism are extremely important.
Election and Referendum Manual, Article IV: CRO and DRO Responsibilities
- The CRO and DRO must ensure a fair and reasonable election process in accordance with the UMGSA Election and Referendum Manual.
- The CRO and DRO must communicate with the HSGSA CRO for the planning of the Bannatyne Campus Election Forum.
- The CRO and DRO must respond promptly to questions and requests by e-mail.
- The CRO and DRO shall report to Council as stipulated in the Election and Referendum Manual.
The details of the roles of the CRO and DRO, as well as all of the policies relating to elections, are found in the UMGSA’s Election and Referendum Manual. The up-to-date version of the Manual can be found here: http://www.umgsa.org/policy-manuals/.
Applicants should submit a CV or Resume, as well as a Cover Letter specifying why they want to serve as CRO or DRO, as well as noting their relevant experience and qualifications.
Applicants should indicate if they are only willing to be considered for one of the two positions, but we encourage all applicants to allow the committee to consider them for either position.
Please submit applications to Election and Referendum Committee Chair, Divya Negi negid@myumanitoba.ca and cc. gsa@umgsa.org.
Thank you for your interest, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
